When the taiko drummers of Yamato play traditional wadaiko drums, they say, "We put our very souls into these unusual instruments, whose sounds stir the hearts of people everywhere. We try to expose the very heart of life, which is beating inside our bodies." Yamato drummers strive to make this heartbeat reverberate the world over, sometimes with gentleness, sometimes with overpowering force. For the drummers of Yamato, it is a celebration of the sound inherited by humankind at the beginning of time. Since the group was formed in 1993, more than a million people in more than a dozen countries have experienced the energy and passion of the taiko drums.
