Lecture by the UNL Libraries’ visiting scholar, Heather Joseph on Tuesday, March 6, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union on City Campus.
Heather Joseph is the Director of SPARC, the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition and she was instrumental in the formation and launch of BioOne, a ground-breaking collaboration among scientific societies, libraries, academe, and the commercial sector.
Topics likely to be covered during her lecture are: the future of “for-pay” publishing models, the changing world of authors’ rights, the Federal Research Public Access Act, the roles and policies of scientific societies, the place of online publications in tenure decisions, and the scientific potential of open access, open archives, and overlay journals.
