"Object, Subject, Ethic, Affect: Dimensions of Understanding Place," Dr. Thomas Dean. Dean has developed an interdisciplinary program for place studies at the University of Iowa that combines undergraduate curricula, research symposia, and community outreach events. His lecture will explore the necessity of different disciplinary perspectives for an adequate understanding of place. He has published over 25 academic articles, reviews, and creative pieces in place studies. Two of his books are just published: THE GRACE OF GRASS AND WATER: ESSAYS IN MEMORY OF PAUL GRUCHOW, and UNDER A MIDLAND SKY.
