| Description: | "Weather and Society: Integrating Social Studies into the Hydrometeorology Community". Jeff Lazo, National Center for Atmospheric Research. Hosted by Karina Schoengold. Jeff Lazo is Director of the Collaborative Program on the Societal and Economic Benefits of Weather Information (the Societal Impacts Program) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. The Societal Impacts Program aims to improve the societal gains from weather forecasting by infusing social science and economic research, methods, and capabilities into the planning, execution, and analysis of weather information, applications, and research directions. His professional interests are in the areas of nonmarket valuation, value of information, environmental economics, risk perception research, survey research, and econometric analysis. Dr. Lazo completed his Ph.D. and M.A. in economics from the University of Colorado, and his B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Denver. "Williams Memorial Lecture" |
