Dr. Donald Pepion, professor of anthropology and former director of the American Indian Program at New Mexico State University, will discuss the Marias Massacre of 1870, in which the U.S. Army killed 173 Blackfeet Indians in northern Montana.

Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery’s Director Emeritus, Norman Geske is a Blakelock scholar and author of Beyond Madness: The Art of Ralph Albert Blakelock, 1847-1919. He will open the exhibition The Unknown Blakelock with a keynote address titled "Why Blakelock?" in Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. A reception for the opening in Sheldon's Great Hall will follow the lecture. This event is free and open to the public. It is underwritten by the Friends of Norman Geske.
