All dayDiversity Working Group Program - Media, Race, Gender, and the Public - Election '08 NEBRASKA UNION
The Diversity Working Group will present a program from noon to 1 p.m. Oct 28 in the Nebraska Union (room posted). Professor Michael Wagner will present will discuss the media, race, gender, and the public in Election 2008. Dr. Wagner's research interest include politics and the media, political psychology, elections, and biology and politics. The program is open to all members of the campus community.

We want to give support staff a view of excellent achievement in their profession by giving them some ideas that will help them hone their skills as part of a professional team. The panels of 3 excellent staff support achievers and 3 bosses will give their ideas as to what a good support person's point of view should be. Our Support Staff Panelists at this time, consist of Beth Griffin, Linda Arnold and Tammy Grammer (Asst. to Robin Eschelman & others on the City Council). Our bosses' panel consists of Jack Oliva, Ellen Weissinger and Z.B. Mayo.

4:00 pm-6:00 pmTwilight Tree Tour for Late Season Tree Management Box Butte County Extension Office
A hands-on tree management tour will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday October 28 at the UNL Extension Office at 415 Black Hills Avenue in Alliance. Presenters will be UNL District Forester Doak Nickerson and UNL Extension Educator Bill Booker. Booker states that Fall is a great time for planting trees and managing or enhancing your tree plans. This year offered some recovery from eight years of drought that can have ongoing impacts on long-lived perennial plants (i.e. trees). Symptoms visible on your trees are not recent (they can be from a year ago or more) so do not expect instant recovery. We can, however, offer the tree a good start on the recovery process for next year’s growing season. The recovery starts now with fall and winter plans and developing plans for next year.

The purpose of the University Health Center Student Advisory Board (UHCSAB) shall be to represent the student body dealing with the health concerns of the University community, by identifying health related problems, and by making recommendations to the University Health Center (UHC) staff and University Administration for the delivery of comprehensive health care. The Board shall assist in planning, evaluation and implementation of policies and programs of the UHC. General meetings are open to all UNL students

The Kripke Lecture presented in collaboration with the UNL Norman and Bernice Harris Center for Judaic Studies. Ronald Dworkin has a unique ability to tie together abstract philosophical ideas and arguments with concrete everyday concerns in law, morals and politics. Dubbed "Mr. Justice" by the Times of London, Dworkin’s pioneering scholarly work has had worldwide impact. He is a Professor of Philosophy and Law at New York University and a Professor of Law at University College London. In 2007, Dworkin was awarded the prestigious Holberg International Memorial Prize by the University of Bergen, Norway for outstanding scholarly work in the humanities. Dworkin has written influential articles on matters of public political controversy for many years. Among his many acclaimed books are: "Taking Rights Seriously," "Justice in Robes" and "Is Democracy Possible Here? Principles for New Political Debate."
