DESCRIPTION:Stanley Lambchop wakes up one morning to find that he has been
  flattened by a bulletin board falling on him while he slept.  In this mu
 sical travelogue, Stanley scours the globe for a solution to his unusual 
 problem.  He is stamped, posted, and cancelled from South Africa to Mexic
 o, from Russia to England to China and beyond.  Wherever he goes, Stanley
  meets new friends, learns about different cultures through song and danc

DESCRIPTION:This year, the UNL School of Music’s Double Reed Day events 
 will host guest oboist Peter Cooper, Principal oboist, Colorado Symphony 
 Orchestra and guest bassoonist Bob Barris, Professor of Bassoon (retired)
  from Northwestern University.\n\nThere will be a recital Friday evening 
 at 7:30 (FREE and open to the public) in Westbrook Recital Hall, Room 119
 , Westbrook Music Building with Peter Cooper, Bob Barris, Dr. William McM
 ullen and Dr. Jeffrey McCray.  Saturday morning will start with mastercla
 sses and continue with two sessions for oboe and bassoon on audition prep
 aration and instrument maintenance.  A boxed lunch will be provided for e
 veryone who pre-registers by Friday, February 8.  After lunch, the aftern
 oon activities will begin with a masterclass and, after a short session l
 ooking at new instruments, tools, and reed making supplies, will conclude
  with a recital featuring the UNL college students that ends with a readi
 ng of double reed ensemble music in which audiences members are encourage
 d to participate! \n\nAll Double Reed Day events will take place in Westb
 rook Music Building on the city campus of UNL.  Pre-registration fee is $
 10 for Saturday’s activities and includes a boxed lunch. The events are
  open to all students, teachers and parents.

DESCRIPTION:The Lied Center for Performing Arts and the University of Nebr
 aska-Lincoln School of Music are pleased to announce that the Vanguard Ja
 zz Orchestra are the featured guest artists for the 2008 UNL Honor Jazz W
 eekend. Select students will have the opportunity to work with UNL studen
 ts, faculty, and members of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra in an exciting we
 ekend of large and small jazz group playing, clinics and master classes.\
 n\nThe Honor Jazz Weekend is a unique jazz experience for high school sop
 homores, juniors and seniors. The festival is designed to give outstandin
 g musicians a comprehensive playing and learning experience. Festival par
 ticipants are chosen through a recorded audition (tape or CD) process. St
 udents attending the festival will have the opportunity to be involved in
  small jazz combos as well as a large jazz ensemble. Students will also p
 articipate in masterclasses with UNL faculty and featured guests, learn a
 bout jazz history and jazz improvisation.\n\nAll day, Friday, Feb 15 thru
  Sunday, Feb 17, in Westbrook Music Building and Kimball Recital Hall.
