| 7:30 pm | Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra LIED CENTER for PERFORMING ARTSFor the past 80 years, Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra has enriched audiences through the performance of symphonic music. Throughout its history, world-renowned artists as diverse as Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, and Yehudi Menuhin have performed with the orchestra. Under the direction of Edward Polochick, the symphony will perform J.S. Bach's "St. Matthew Passion," which recounts the story of Christ's crucifixion in the Gospel of Matthew. Written in the 1720's, Bach's "Passion" is noted for its musical richness and its grand scope. Joining LSO for this performance will be six guest soloists as well as Nebraska Wesleyan University and Lincoln Civic Choirs, directed by William A. Wyman, and the Omaha Chamber Singers, directed by David Batter. |
