International Economist Matthew J. Slaughter will present a public lecture “A New Deal for Globalization?” at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on March 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Slaughter is a Professor of International Economics at Dartmouth University and a former Member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Are you struggling with writing your dissertation? This support group, led by CAPS counselor Dr. Marty Ramirez, will help you: develop writing skills; learn to manage time and stress; understand advisor/advisee issues; and overcome procrastination.
7:30 pmState Symphony Orchestra of Mexico LIED CENTER for PERFORMING ARTS
For more than 30 years, the State Symphony Orchestra of Mexico has been lauded for its brilliant technique and powerful dynamics. The orchestra has been honored with numerous awards and has performed at many festivals and on tour around the world, representing the best of Mexican music and culture. The orchestra will perform "The Three-Cornered Hat, Suite No. 2," by Manuel De Falla; "Fantasia para un gentilhombre," by Joaquin Rodrigo; "Sinfonia India, No. 2," by Carlos Chaves; and "Symphony No. 4," by Johannes Brahms.
7:30 pmConcert Choir, Collegiate Chorus, East Campus Choir, & University Singers KIMBALL RECITAL HALL
The Collegiate Chorus, under the direction of Brian Hart, will perform the Vesperes Solemnes de confessore by W.A. Mozart with chamber orchestra and student soloists. The Concert Choir with Dr. Therees Hibbard will present a richly varied program ranging from Händel to Moses Hogan. The evening concludes with a DMA recital given by James Wilson with the University Singers performing both sacred and secular works by Johannes Brahms. Tickets: General admission $5, student/senior $3, available at the door approx. one hour before the performance.
