The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts celebrates its annual Honors Day Weekend beginning April 25. The annual Honors Day Dinner will be held Saturday, April 26 at 5 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. The dinner is by invitation only. Faculty, student and alumni achievement will be recognized at the dinner. Awardees will include Christopher Ervin (BFA 1995), a successful motion graphics designer, visual effects artist, creative director and designer who created VelocityApe FX, Inc., Alumni Achievement Award in Art; Dr. Eugene O’Brien (BM 1967, MM 1969),one of America’s premier composers and Executive Dean of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Alumni Achievement Award in Music; Dr. Alan Nielsen (MA 1977), a teacher, composer/lyricist, playwright and director and professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, Alumni Achievement Award in Theatre Arts; Ernie Weyeneth, President and CEO of the Richard P. Kimmel and Laurine Kimmel Charitable Foundation, Award of Merit; and Dan Howard, Faculty Service Award.

"Diversity on Campu," Professor Montes will be speaking about diversity & cultural awareness. He will speak in particulare about how it relates to students in college.
7:30 pmSt. Petersburg Ballet - Carmen LIED CENTER for PERFORMING ARTS
The St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre provides an opportunity to experience the richness and variety of Russian ballet at its best. One of the most distinguished classical companies in Russia, it has been designated as State and Academic Ballet along with the Kirov and the Bolshoi State and Academic Ballet theatres. The company will perform "Carmen," the story of the seductive gypsy and her lover, Don Jose.

Tom and Annabel, a reasonably happy married couple, have an argument about who loves the other most A tussle ensues, and to Tom's horror Annabel is dead. Enter Tom's friend the policeman, his literary agent, and a rather grim police inspector who further complicates the matter. It seems that no woman may enter the house without rapidly becoming deceased. Now, what to do with the bodies. A black farce in the true British style!
