The 2009 Nebraska Soybean Day and Machinery Expo Dec. 11 will assist soybean producers in planning for next year’s growing season. The expo, which begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m., will be in the pavilion at the Saunders County Fairgrounds in Wahoo, said Keith Glewen, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension educator.

The expo opens with coffee, doughnuts and the opportunity to view equipment and exhibitor booths. Speakers start at 9 a.m.

Presenters include UNL researchers and specialists, Nebraska Soybean Board representatives, soybean growers and private industry representatives.

Steve Johnson, Field Specialist - Farm Management with Iowa State Extension, will discuss surviving turbulent times. Tom Clemente, a faculty member in UNL's Department of Agronomy and Horticulture and head of UNL’s Plant Transformation Core Research Facility will review the changing world of soybean genetics. Producers will learn about tools for volunteer corn control in soybean production from UNL Extension Weed Science Educator, Lowell Sandell. The day will be filled with presentations to help producers get ready for the 2010 growing season. Watch for more details.
