Beef Satellite Short Course

Description:

UNL Extension's Beef Satellite Short Course will look at issues currently facing Nebraska’s beef producers. The Beef Short Course will present the latest research-based information on herd health and profitability.

The program will be held on the following Monday evenings, beginning at 7:00 p.m. CST, 6:00 p.m. MST at area extension offices and at the UNL Agricultural Research & Development Center August. N. Christenson Research & Education Building Near Mead. Please check with your local extension office for more details.

* December 21, 2009 - Herd Biosecurity—Keeping TB and Trich Out of Your Herd Dr. Richard Randle, Extension Veterinarian, Beef, University of Nebraska

* January 11, 2010 - What’s the Beef? Impact of Feeding Distillers on Beef Quality and New Products on the Horizon Dr. Chris Calkins, Professor, Meat Scientist, University of Nebraska

* January 18, 2010 - Indexes, SNPs, DNA Testing—Understanding Complicated Genetics and How It Applies to the Cow/Calf Producer Dr. Matt Spangler, Beef Specialist, Animal Breeding, University of Nebraska
