The Nebraska Local Food Network presents powerful and passionate speakers who are involved with local foods. • Diana Endicott, farm to market coordinator with Good Natured Family Farms near Kansas City, distributing local foods into grocery stores and restaurants. • Panel of Nebraska producers share their trials and successes in local foods production, marketing and distribution. • Motivational talk by Judy Gilliard, the radio host for the Judy ala Carte show at KFOR 1240 Radio in Lincoln. • Open forum discussion with Jenny Montoya-Tansey from the USDA Rural Development Office in Washington D.C. and President Obama’s Administration. • John Ikerd, professor emeritus from the University of Missouri, local foods sustainability and profitability.
12:00 pm-1:00 pm"Fountain Frolics" Summer Concert Series Nebraska Union Plaza
The 2009 Fountain Frolics summer concert series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln begins June 4 at the Nebraska Union Plaza, 15th and S streets. The concerts will be noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday through July 30 (except July 2). UNL's University Program Council sponsors local musical entertainment and sells a picnic lunch of a hot dog, chips and a Pepsi product for $4 under the north overhang of the Nebraska Union. The Fountain Frolics lineup: * June 4 -- Broad Appeal * June 11 -- The Melody Wrangler * June 18 -- David von Kampen * June 25 -- Toasted Ponies * July 2 -- no event * July 9 -- Baby Needs Shoes * July 16 -- The Lightning Bugs * July 23 -- Nebraska Jazz Combo * July 30 -- The Resonators
4:30 pmSpend a Night at the State Museum! MORRILL HALL
The State Museum is offering free admission to Morrill Hall every Thursday during the month of July between 4:30-7:30 p.m. Mueller Planetarium will be featuring limited runs of “Secret of the Cardboard Rocket” at 5:30 p.m. and “Dark Side of the Moon: The Fulldome Experience” at 7 p.m. these nights. Planetarium tickets are $3.00 for UNL students, faculty, and staff. Children under 18 are $2.50. Tickets are sold at the museum’s front gate the day of the show. The museum will continue to be open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the year.
