SUMMARY:Flute Day
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Dr. John Bailey, Flute Day welcomes guest artist and
  clinician George Pope, Professor of Flute at the University of Akron and
  Instructor of Flute at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.  He will be giv
 ing an afternoon master class with UNL flutists performing.  High school 
 and college flutists from other schools will perform for Dr. Bailey in th
 e morning master classes. Requests to play in the master classes will be 
 honored as received, with preference given to 11th and 12th graders and v
 isiting college flutists.  Younger flutists will be selected as space per
 mits.  Those selected to play in the masterclasses will be contacted.

SUMMARY:Flute Day Concert
DESCRIPTION:George Pope is Professor of Flute at the University of Akron a
 nd Instructor of Flute at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. Principal Flu
 te of the Akron Symphony from 1978-2002, Pope has performed with the Clev
 eland Orchestra, the Blossom Festival Orchestra, red (an orchestra), the 
 New Mexico Symphony, the Monteux Festival Orchestra, the Brevard Music Ce
 nter Orchestra and at the Spoleto Festival. A founding member of the Sola
 ris Wind Quintet and the Chamber Music Society of Ohio, he has also appea
 red with the Coryton Trio, the Garth Newel Chamber Players, and the Swann
 anoa Chamber Players in Asheville, N.C. He has recorded for Opus One Reco
 rds, with Solaris on Capstone Records, with the Blossom Festival Band and
  with the Akron Symphony on Telarc International.
