Drought is a natural disaster that occurs nearly everywhere and has serious economic, environmental and social impacts. In his fall Nebraska Lecture, “Managing Drought in a Changing Climate,” Donald A. Wilhite will share ways UNL is addressing drought-related challenges throughout the world. As droughts become more frequent and intense in the face of climate change, strategies to mitigate their impact will become increasingly important. Wilhite, director of UNL’s School of Natural Resources, will discuss the importance of proactive risk-management approaches, including early warning systems and preparedness. This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
