7:30 pmThe Complete String Quartets of Beethoven, Part VI KIMBALL RECITAL HALL
The Chiara Quartet completes its triumphant first cycle of the complete string quartets of Beethoven at UNL with a sixth concert. The final program features the last of Beethoven's early quartets, the Quartet in B-flat Major, Opus 18, No. 6, and an encore performance of Beethoven's late quartet in B-flat Major, Opus 130 in this performance including the original finale to the piece, the 'Great Fugue,' (Große Fuge) Opus 133. This final movement, controversial at its premiere, was removed from the published edition of Opus 130, because of its forward-thinking harmonies and huge scale.

One of Beethoven's crowning achievements, the Große Fuge will bring the entire 16-work cycle to a stunning and grand finale.

Tickets: individual $20, seniors $10, students $5, and will be available through the Lied Center box office at 402-472-4747 or 800-432-3231, or at the door approximately one hour before the performance.
