Each work in the exhibitio n was created and acquired after 1960.\n\nThe exhibition reflects art mov ements and trends from this period as well as museum directions in collec ting. The exhibition highlights important gifts to the museum and draws a ttention to areas of strength in its holdings. The installation also cele brates new acquisitions and important works that have not recently been o n view.\n\nIn honor of Sheldon's 50th Anniversary and the 125th Anniversa ry of the Sheldon Art Association, the SAA and the museum purchased a sig nificant work by a major artist. This important painting, probab ly begun in the late 1960s, exemplifies Krasner’s transition in style f rom using expansive gestural brushstrokes to incorporating more tightly d efined graphic elements such as lines and disks. One in six women become vict ims of sexual assault and one in four men report experiences of intimate partner violence. Stalking, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault affect people of all genders, races, sexual orientations, and background s.\n \nThe UNL Women’s Center has coordinated Week Without Violence eve nts for over 14 years. The Women’s Center collaborates with UNL and Lin coln groups to raise awareness of violence and its profoundly negative ef fects.\n \n“The purpose of the Week Without Violence is to empower all individuals in the UNL community to create a safer environment for everyo ne,” said Jan Deeds, UNL Associate Director of Student Involvement and Director of the UNL Women’s Center. \n\nEvents begin at 10 am on Saturd ay, October 6 with Walk a Mile in her Shoes, sponsored by Alpha Chi Omega . Participants will walk a mile around campus in high heels to raise awar eness of rape, sexual assault, and gendered violence. All are welcome to march. The march begins with speakers at the Alpha Chi Omega house on 716 N. 16th Street. \n\nLater on October 6, all community members are invite d to participate in Slutwalk, a march to end the victim shame cycle. Victims/survivors interested in being photographed should email projectunbreakable@gmail.com with the subject line “photograph me.”\n \nOn Friday, October 12, the documentary The Pink Room will show at 7:30 pm at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. The Pink Room explores sex slavery and human trafficking in Cambodia. Th e documentary will be followed by a community discussion with executive p roducers Janey and Steve Shugart and a reception in the Van Brunt Visitor 's Center. Free tickets will be available at the Ross counter prior to th e film.\n \nThe Clothesline Project will be displayed October 17 – 19 i n the Rotunda Gallery in the Nebraska Union. The Clothesline Project is a n art exhibit intended to raise awareness of the violence taking place in our community.
