May 2012 graduates were mailed an instructional packet including attendance form on April 6. All graduating students must return an attendance form by April 20 so we know what to do with your diploma.

Return the attendance form whether or not you plan to attend your commencement ceremony.

The Buros Center for Testing in collaboration with Educational Testing Service is hosting the Sixth installment of the annual BUROS/ETS lecture series on April 9 at 2:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be held in Teachers College Hall, room 139, followed by a reception and discussion in the Buros library.

The lecture series takes place once a year and brings a senior research scientist from Educational Testing Service to the UNL campus to speak on current assessment and testing issues.

This year, Michael Kane will be coming to Lincoln to give a presentation titled "The Argument-based Approach to Validation."

Dr. Kane is holder of the Samuel J. Messick Chair in Test Validity at ETS, the first person to have received this honor. He is most renowned for his work in validity theory and practice and has written many articles and chapters on the subject, including the chapter “Validation” in the fourth edition of Educational Measurement.

In his lecture, Dr. Kane will discuss how explicit recognition of the inferences and assumptions underlying the interpretation and use of test scores can guide the process of validation by identifying which kinds of evidence are needed to evaluate the claims being made.
