Research lab tours, information about scholarships and opportunities to meet with professors and current students are all on the schedule for the 11th annual Chemistry Day at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Oct. 13th event will introduce high school juniors and seniors and their parents and teachers to the department and exciting careers in the field of chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry-sponsored event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Hamilton Hall on the UNL City Campus.

UNL students who are interested in becoming chemistry majors also are welcome to participate.

Other events include “Chemistry Quizbowl”, a scavenger hunt to learn more about the department and a chance to make a chromatography T-shirt. Chromatography is a laboratory process involving the separation of mixtures.

Teachers and parents will have the opportunity to participate in a round-table discussion on current topics in teaching.

Registration for this event is free and includes lunch and the chance to win scholarships and other chemistry-related prizes. For more information or to register, visit the department’s website, http://www.chem.unl.edu/chemday, or contact Peg Bergmeyer at (402) 472-3514 or at pbergmeyer2@unl.edu.
