The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s own Big Red Singers will take the stage. This showcase is the public’s last opportunity to see the 2015-2016 Big Red Singers in action. This high-energy performance of excellent singing and expert choreography will feature a combination of the groups’ best songs from the year as well the public debut of an arrangement and choreography by two of our very own members. This performance promises to be a great way to cap your May Day!

Directed by Kirk Schjodt, Big Red Singers is an ensemble featuring some of the university’s finest musicians. Outstanding performers from all over the university, representing a variety of different majors, work together in the development of entertaining, high-energy, fully-choreographed shows. The ensemble’s repertoire is chosen from a wide variety of popular music as well as music from Broadway.

Vocal Jazz Ensemble is made up of 12 singers and a 4-piece rhythm section. The ensemble performs traditional and contemporary jazz literature and reharmonized arrangements of contemporary popular songs. VJE includes UNL students from a variety of degree programs, and performs on and off-campus each semester. They will perform five pieces including The Tourist, Haunted Heart and She’s Not There.
