The Great Plains Disaster Behavioral Health Conference is for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health care providers, public health officials, nurses, clergy, emergency managers and first responders, and security professionals to learn and recognize how to prepare and respond to the psychological effects of disaster and mass casualties.

Conference objectives: 1) Become familiar with the psychological impact of mass violence on individuals and communities,
2) Distinguish between Violence Risk Assessment and Threat Assessment, and
3) Discuss the ethical issues regarding reporting of potentially violent activity.

Speakers include:
- Mark Follman, national affairs editor at Mother Jones
- Dr. Randy Otto, associate professor at the University of South Florida
- Dr. Mario Scalora, director of the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center; instructor and researcher at UNL
- Dr. Mark Lukin, coordinator of the Nebraska Department of Corrections Discharge Review Team

PsychContinuingEd.com maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Participants attending this program can receive up to 6.0 hours of APA-approved continuing education units.
