Acreage owners and small land owners in Washington County and the surrounding area should mark on their calendars, Saturday, January 18th. The Alternative Growers Group in Washington County will be sponsoring a Small Acreage Conference to be held at the Schwerttey Hall on the campus of St Johns Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the concurrent sessions beginning at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until 4:00 p.m.
“Acreage Survival Skills” will be the theme of the conference which will include concurrent talks by local alternative agriculture entrepreneurs, Cooperative Extension Specialists and state wide sustainable agriculture experts. Paul Rohrbaugh, former Executive Secretary of the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society and a renown sustainable agriculture farmer in Nebraska will serve as the keynote speaker for the program. Invited booths will also be a part of the conference.
