Tree Care Workshop from the Nebraska Forest Service and Ogallala Tree Board

WHAT: This will be a very hands-on workshop. We’ll primarily be outside where participants will engage in best management practices in the areas of pruning, watering, mulching, tree selection and planting. Tree health issues will also be covered, particularly some of the damage from drastic temperature changes in November 2014 and late spring snow storms in 2015.

FOR: This workshop was designed specifically for landscape managers, city employees, school maintenance staff, tree board members or anyone who cares for or manages public trees.

WHY: Trees have a positive impact on our communities. Not only do they improve air quality and cool our communities, they help to reduce energy costs, increase property values and improve the overall livability of communities on the Great Plains. Healthy trees benefit communities while poorly managed ones can be costly, unsightly and dangerous. Learn best management practices that will benefit your community for decades to come.

COST: Free to all city and school maintenance staff; $7 cash or check for general public the day of the workshop; contact Amy Seiler to pre-register BEFORE Sept. 8 (required for meal).
