“Bile duct injury as a target for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease” will be presented by Justin Mott, assistant professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UNMC on March 17 at 4:00 PM in N172 Beadle.
The long-term goal of Dr. Mott’s research is to understand how apoptosis contributes biliary disease. By modulating cell death pathways, we hope to improve liver health. Specifically, we are pursuing a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease project focused on determining liver injury and inflammation resulting from free fatty acid effects on biliary epithelial cells and a cancer project focused on inducing apoptosis in cholangiocarcinoma with therapeutic intent. The role of apoptosis regulators, including microRNAs, remains an active part of our studies.
