“‘Zincing’ sensibly: Using yeast model systems to understand zinc homeostasis” will be presented by Amanda Bird, associate professor, Departments of Human Nutrition and Molecular Genetics, The Ohio State University.

Dr. Amanda Bird is an associate professor of Human Nutrition and Molecular Genetics. She received her PhD in molecular genetics from the University of Newcastle (UK). After her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Missouri-Columbia and at the University of Utah, before starting her own research program at The Ohio State University. Amanda’s research interests include using yeast model systems to understand the mechanisms by which cells sense zinc ions and control zinc ion distribution. She has authored/coauthored 23 peer reviewed journal articles relating to zinc homeostasis and has received funding from the NIH to support her research.
