CEHS is hosting this annual tailgate event for alums from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27 in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center (next door to the Nebraska Union). Kickoff for the Nebraska vs. Illinois football game is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Roger Breed earned his BS and MS in secondary education, and his doctorate in administration, curriculum and instruction. He served as an educator in the state of Nebraska for over 40 years. In March 2009, he became the Nebraska Commissioner of Education, and retired from that position on June 30, 2013. During his time as Commissioner of Education, Breed led the implementation of statewide reading, mathematics and science tests; established a new state accountability system; and worked with the Nebraska court system to address excessive absenteeism in public schools.
