This advanced course offers an interactive classroom environment designed for individuals who wish to do business with, travel to, or simply learn more about China.
CICL 202 is a sequential class to CICL 201. Instructors will review previously learned grammar with students. The class is designed to help students sharpen their listening and speaking skills in Chinese, particularly emphasizing making more accurate pronunciation of words and constructing correct sentences. Students will be able to expand their conversational skills on topics such as making an appointment, talking about their plans and schedules, doing shopping, and expressing their choices and preferences. A short supplementary introduction of Chinese culture will also be included.
CICC 101 offers an exciting glimpse into Chinese culture, history, and society. This course does not require any prior knowledge of Chinese and is open for anyone who is interested in expanding their knowledge of Chinese culture, history, and heritage. The course offers an introduction of traditional Chinese culture, history, customs, virtues, arts, music, holidays, and food. Students are encouraged to do hands-on activities during classes such as how to write Chinese, make dumplings, and sing Chinese folk songs.
