In “Finding Poetic Content in Historic Newspapers: What We’re Doing and Why it Matters,” Liz Lorang from CDRH will talk about the Image Analysis for Archival Discovery team’s work to identify poetic content in the 8 million pages of Chronicling America (chroniclingamerica.loc.gov). She’ll discuss why poetry in newspapers, and our ability to find this content at scale, matters from a literary/historical perspective as well as the potential of image analysis for discovery in digitized collections more broadly. More information on Image Analysis for Archival Discovery (Aida) is available at aida.unl.edu. Hosted by the Academic Activities Committee.
