"Communicating Science Information to Policy Makers and the Public". Gene Whitney, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Hosted by Don Wilhite Dr. Gene Whitney is Assistant Director for the Environment, White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP). His work focuses on the science and technology policy aspects of earth sciences, natural hazards and disasters, energy, water, land remote sensing, environment, and natural resources. He is co-Chair of the U.S. Group on Earth Observations and is OSTP liaison to the U.S. Climate Change Science Program. He directs the Future of Land Imaging Interagency Working Group, and serves as NSTC director for the Subcommittee on Disaster Reduction and the Subcommittee on Water Availability and Quality. Gene’s seminar will address “Communicating Science to Policy Makers and the Public.” He will also be meeting with faculty, staff, and students on his areas of expertise and responsibilities in OSTP. His visit will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss current and future science trends in natural resources and the environment. Gene’s visit to SNR will be April 8-9.

Parents Forever is an educational program for families in divorce transition. Kids Talk About Divorce is an educational program for school-age children experiencing divorce. Programs are available throughout Nebraska to help meet the needs of divorcing families and children and meet the requirements of the New Parent Act as amended by LB 554 in 2007.
