The YWCA of Grand Island announces the 26th annual YWCA Garden Walk to be held Thursday, July 19th. Six of the finest gardens in Grand Island will be available to tour at the attendee’s leisure between 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm.
Co-chair of the event Joan McKee shares, “I always get excited about the Garden Walk because you get so many new ideas when you tour the gardens. Even if you are not a great gardener you can pick up tiny things to enhance your own space. It’s a summer tradition to go sit in a garden with the dessert tour, visit with fellow gardeners, tour all the other gardens and discover several ideas I can incorporate into my own garden.”
The first Garden Walk was held in 1986 at the home of Roberta Catlett as a Garden luncheon. Over 160 gardens have been featured on this walk throughout the years. New and novelty ideas have been shared at this event and gardens have ranged from small to grand, stately to whimsical, and elaborate to simple and natural.
Tickets are available for $12 prior to the event at the YWCA, Skagway North, Skagway South, Ace Hardware & Garden Center, Earl May Nursery & Garden Center, Lewis Greenscape or for $15 the day of the event at these same locations or at the gardens themselves. Gardens will have different features, such as a display of the garden raffle prizes, refreshments or an opportunity to check out the newest Sparkle Jewelry.
