National Food Entrepreneur Program Seminar

The University of Nebraska Food Processing Center is offering a one-day seminar for all individuals interested in exploring the idea of starting a food manufacturing business. Interested individuals should attend “Recipe to Reality” seminar, offered on May 16, 2014.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Registration deadline is May 2, 2014.

The workshop will focus on the challenges facing wheat producers from wheat stem sawflies, kochia, virus and moisture. Speakers will be from UNL, USDA and Kansas St. University. CCU credits available.

Registration is free and open to the first 80 people. Lunch will be provided.

POLLINATION CONSERVATION WORKSHOP— 10:00 am—4:00 pm at ARDC, 1071 County Rd G, Ithaca NE
$35 Registration fee—pollinator seeds and other supplies will be included, lunch provided. Topics to be covered are pollinators, pollinator habitat, and landscape modification. * A special educator's tract will be offered for those interested in teaching pollination to youth. A brown bag series on all things green. The August presentation is on “Woody Plants that Take the Heat”. Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, is the sponsor of the series along with UNL Garden Friends and Friends of Maxwell Arboretum. The noon presentation will be repeated the same day at 6 p.m.

Event sponsors hope to bring together a community of on- and off-campus people who care about the environment. There will be time for discussion at each session and, when weather permits, time to walk through the campus landscape.

Future topics include “Community Crops and Organic Gardening” on September 4, and "Fall Color and Planting" on October 2.

Participants are invited to bring a meal if desired, and ideas or questions. For more information about the brown bag series, call the Arboretum at 402-472-2971, email arboretum@unl.edu or visit http://arboretum.unl.edu/.
