The Chamber Singers will give the Winter Escape holiday recital on Friday, Dec 4 at 5:00 pm in the Great Hall of Sheldon Museum of Art. This event is FREE and open to the public.
5:00 pm-7:00 pmWinterfest LUX Center for the Arts
UNL's Art in the Community class, in collaboration with the LUX Center for the Arts, presents Winterfest on Friday, Dec. 4 from 5-7 p.m. Hands-on holiday card making and cookies and cider will be available. Hand-made ornaments, made by UNL students, will be for sale. Proceeds from the ornaments will help fund the LUX Center’s youth scholarship program. Gifts from the Heart continues through December 23 with more than 50 locally, regionally, and nationally known artists showing pottery, paintings, photographs, framed prints, jewelry, textiles, or wood work. All art is for sale in the LUX Center gallery and are available to take home the same day as purchased. LUX Center for the Arts is free and open to the public. Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. First Friday of each month, 11a.m. to 7 p.m. Free parking is available on the west side of the building located in historic University Place at 2601 N. 48th Street. The mission of LUX Center for the Arts is to enhance the lives of a diverse public through the visual arts by providing exceptional learning opportunities in contemporary art, craft, and design. These opportunities, honoring the legacy of arts educator Gladys M. Lux, include art classes, residence programs, gallery exhibitions, and community outreach. The Nebraska Arts Council, a state agency, has supported the programs of LUX Center for the Arts through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. The Annual Student Dance Project will be Friday, Dec 4 and Saturday, Dec 4 both at 7:30 pm in Mabel Lee Hall, room 304 at 14th & Vine Streets on the city campus. Tickets: General admission $5, student/senior $3, available at the door approx. one hour before the performance.
