Time Event Title
All dayUNL Extension Program - Sprayer Technology for Growers Agricultural Research & Development Center, near Mead

Pesticide effectiveness is highly dependent on the quality of the application. A March 6 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension training session will assist producers in increasing the efficiency of spray applications.

The Sprayer Technology for Growers workshop will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the August N. Christenson Research and Education Building at UNL's Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

The workshop will be presented by Robert Klein, UNL Extension cropping systems specialist, and includes information on necessary steps for quality pesticide application, calibration of sprayers, spray nozzle tip selection, nozzle tip demonstration and a discussion of on-site sprayers.

Many new developments have occurred in pesticide application equipment as a result of post application pesticides and the arrival of herbicide resistant and tolerant crops. These changes also will be covered in the workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how sprayers should be set up, along with nozzle selection to maximize efficacy while managing spray drift.

There is no fee for this workshop, but advance registration is requested by March 4. For more information or to register, contact UNL Extension at (402) 624-8030, (800) 529-8030 or e-mail Keith Glewen at kglewen1@unl.edu.

UNL Extension is in the university's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
