Event Detail
Date: Friday, October 23rd
Time: All day
Description:

UNL Extension is offering a Science Festival for selected students who are in 7th and 8th grade at the following schools:  Ashland-Greenwood, East Butler, Cedar Bluffs, Mead, North Bend Central, Prague, Raymond Central, Wahoo Bishop Neumann, Wahoo, and Yutan.

This event will be held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead.

Students will be selected by their science instructors to attend this special event.  Participants will learn about opportunities in science through hands-on experiential stations.  Through this experience youth will identify potential career paths which will help them look at science from a variety of new perspectives.

UNL Departments involved in the festival include:  Extension, Agronomy and Horticulture, Animal Science, Biological Systems Engineering, Food Science & Technology, School of Natural Resources, and Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences.

Participating students will select two science tracks to follow.  Each track will provide hands-on learning and opportunity for investigation.  Students will rank their track selection on their enrollment forms.  Tracks will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
