A March 17 program sponsored by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension in Saunders County will give those interested in wind energy an overview of small wind turbines.

Basics of Farm/Residential Small Wind Turbines is from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Saunders County Extension Office located at the UNL Agricultural Research & Development Center August N. Christenson Research & Education Building near Mead. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The program will assist land owners, business owners, local utility representatives and economic development officials in learning about small wind turbines.

This is a rescheduled, pre-recorded webcast program, with an additional presentation by a UNL Extension Educator.  John Hay, Extension Educator, Biological Systems Engineering, will also be onsite to discuss net metering and other topics specific to Nebraska.  And he will be available to answer questions.  

Topics include: applications, estimating wind turbine production, policies and economics, the process for installing small wind turbines, small wind system components and technology questions.

The webcast presenter is Antonio C. Jimenez of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory/National Wind Technology Center. Jimenez is a member of the NREL Wind Powering America team. He administers NREL's Native American Anemometer Loan Program and provides analysis assistance to tribes contemplating wind energy projects.

The webcast is a joint activity of the High Plains Extension Energy Team for Community Development. This team consists of Extension professionals in an eight-state High Plains region, including Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

UNL Extension is in the university's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Parents Forever is an educational course for all parents who are involved in divorce, custody modification, or who never married but are seeking custody.
1:30 pmGuardianship / Conservator Education - Lancaster County Lancaster Extension Education Center
Fulfills Guardian/Conservator education requirements set by the Nebraska Probate Code. Classes are approved by Nebraska Supreme Court. University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension offers quarterly Guardian/Conservator education classes in all Judicial Districts other than Douglas County*. Monthly classes are offered in Lancaster County. This class provides participants with detailed information in serving as Guardian or Conservator for others. Most classes are co-taught by a volunteer attorney through the Nebraska State Bar Association who answers general legal questions. Please call local contact person at least two days ahead of date of training. Registration fee is $15 cash/check payable to University of Nebraska-Lincoln at the class.
