SUMMARY:UNL Extension Program - (CMDC) Field Crop Scout  Training
DESCRIPTION:A University of  Nebraska-Lincoln Extension crop scout trainin
 g course will provide crop scouts  an opportunity to enhance their skills
 .\n  The training is  designed for entry level scouts who will be working
  for crop consultants,  industry agronomists or farm service centers acro
 ss Nebraska and neighboring  states, said Keith Glewen, UNL Extension edu
 cator.\n  The course is from  9 a.m.-5 p.m. with registration at 8:30 a.m
 . May 12 at the university's  Agricultural Research and Development Cente
 r near Mead, Neb.\n"Past participants  have given the training high marks
  and state that the knowledge gained from  attending greatly enhanced the
 ir scouting skills," Glewen said. \n  Topics include:  how corn and soybe
 an plants grow and develop; soybean and corn pests; insect  quiz;  plant 
 morphology; using a key to  identify weed seedlings; identifying weeds; c
 rop diseases and quiz; and  nutrient deficiencies.\n  Presenters  include
 :  Dale Flowerday,  agronomist;  Tamra Jackson, UNL Extension  plant path
 ologist ; Keith Jarvi, UNL Extension entomologist ; Keith Glewen, UNL  Ex
 tension educator; Lowell Sandell, UNL Extension weed science educator; an
 d  Amy Ziems, UNL Extension educator - plant pathology.\n  Some of the  b
 enefits registrants stated the training provided included practical/worki
 ng  knowledge and better accuracy in field scouting, Glewen said. "Other 
  participants appreciated the hands-on, practical format."\n  Early regis
 tration  is $95 by May 5 and $105 after.\n  A total of 5.5  Certified Cro
 p Advisor Continuing Education Units is anticipated in the integrated  pe
 st management (4.0), crop production (1.0) and soil fertility (.5)  categ

SUMMARY:Guardianship / Conservator Education - Saunders County
DESCRIPTION:Fulfills Guardian/Conservator education requirements set by th
 e Nebraska Probate Code. Classes are approved by Nebraska Supreme Court.\
 n\nUniversity of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension offers quarterly Guardian/Con
 servator education classes in all Judicial Districts other than Douglas C
 ounty*. Monthly classes are offered in Lancaster County. This class provi
 des participants with detailed information in serving as Guardian or Cons
 ervator for others. Most classes are co-taught by a volunteer attorney th
 rough the Nebraska State Bar Association who answers general legal questi
 ons. Please call local contact person at least two days ahead of date of 
 training. Registration fee is $15 cash/check payable to University of Neb
 raska-Lincoln at the class.
