World-renowned canopy biologist Nalini Nadkarni is the speaker for the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum’s Young Lecture. Based on her book “Between Earth and Sky,” the presentation is a tapestry of personal stories, research and artwork related to trees’ root systems and canopies, as well as their role in commerce, medicine, urban and wild areas, folklore and the arts.

Nadkarni has been involved in prison efforts, arts outreach and has given two TED talks. She received an Aldo Leopold Leadership Fellowship and was named one of the “Top 20 most innovative college professors in the USA.”

The ticketed lecture is at 7:30 p.m. A reception with hors d’oeuvres and desserts precedes the talk at 6:30 p.m.

The cost for the lecture is $20 for NSA members and $25 for non-members; lecture plus reception is $25 for NSA members and $35 for non-members; and the cost for UNL students with ID is $10. Space is limited.
