The CoJMC will be having a reception on Thursday to welcome Ad Hudler and Mike Wilke, who will be speaking to classes throughout the day. The reception, from 8:30-9:30 a.m., will be in the Hitchcock Center
Wilke is a business journalist who has charted the emergence of gay marketing and advertising since 1992. He is the founder of the nonprofit Commercial Closet Association, launched in New York City in 2001 to advocate for advertising that respects the diversity of gender identity and sexual orientation, for a more accepting society and for better business results. His work is widely cited by college textbooks and news agencies, and he is credited with coining the popular term "gay vague."
Hudler, a 1986 graduate of UNL, is a stay-at-home dad, author and small-space landscaper who lives with his family in Fort Myers, Florida. His controversial, comic novels, printed in multiple languages, include “Househusband,” “Southern Living,” “All This Belongs to Me,” and, most recently, “Man of the House." Before writing fiction, Hudler was an award-winning writer for metro newspapers and national magazines. He says of his books, "Most of my material is pure journalism, masquerading as fiction.
