UNL's College of Journalism and Mass Communications is pleased to join ABC News on Campus, a partnership between the ABC television network's news division and several of the nation's leading journalism schools. (Check out the site at abcnews.go.com/oncampus)

Modeled on a network news bureau, the college bureaus are staffed primarily by juniors and seniors and graduate students selected by ABC News and university faculty. The college bureau is equipped with state-of-the-art camera equipment, computers and edit software.

Under the program, students will have the opportunity to report on stories and produce a wide array of content for ABC News digital and broadcast platforms. These college digital bureaus will extend the newsgathering reach of ABC News throughout the country. In addition, they will enable ABC News to nurture bright, beginning journalism students, give them hands-on training from some of the most seasoned news professionals in the business.

Professor Kathy Christensen is the faculty adviser for the program.

Students who are chosen to be members of the bureau will spend 15-20 hours a week on ABC work.

Established in September 2008, UNL joins ABC News on Campus bureaus established at Arizona State University, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Texas at Austin and Syracuse University.
