UCARE will host a reception to kick off the 2012-13 academic year for UCARE students and their faculty sponsors on Wednesday, August 29, from 4-4:45 p.m. in the City Campus Union.

Please congratulate Dr. Frauke Hachtmann and her UCARE research assistant Makayla Hipke; Matt Waite and his UCARE assistants Ben Kreimer, Travis Shafer and Daniel Wheaton; and Scott Winter and his UCARE assistants Frannie Sprouls and Catherine Larson.

Hachtmann and Hipke's project is titled "Game-Changer: The Role of Social Media in Big Ten Athletic Departments."

Waite's project explores the ethical usage of drones in journalism.

Winter's project is a bi-weekly podcast of Prairie Schooner, which can be found on iTunes or prairieschooner.unl.edu .

The first meeting will be held Wednesday, August 29 at 6 p.m. in 15 Andersen Hall.

As a reminder, new students to the CoJMC can get their passport stamped or signed by the club president.

The fully-signed passport enables you to compete for a $1,500 scholarship.

Go 'on location' in front of our studio green screen to test your ad lib reporting skills with our crack team of anchors.

A special guest will be in attendance.

Plus we will provide food and prizes.
