The North Central Regional Center for Rural Development (NCRCRD) at Michigan State University is continuing our webinar series “Innovations in Agriculture and Rural Development.” Webinars feature technology and development opportunities from the 12 North Central land-grants and all our webinars are free to anyone interested. Our primary goal is to help disseminate information regarding new innovations in agriculture. Our secondary goal is to help generate potential intermediate/end user feedback regarding technologies and opportunities. This is a great platform for private industry to connect with university researchers and administrator.

Title: Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory: From Benchtop to Proof of Concept

Webinar Description: The Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory (IBRL) has been designed as a flexible, state-of-the-art plug-and-play pilot scale facility. Its focus is to advance research and education regarding renewable fuel, food and fiber-based processing platforms and to stimulate bio-economic development in the region through translational scale-up of developed technologies leading to commercialization. The IBRL is a hybrid facility involving innovative, multi-disciplinary teams (faculty and industry partners) focused at the nexus of plant and microbial genetics and bioprocessing. Moving from basic research discoveries to commercial products requires a unique facility where various plant and plant co-products can be tested for their suitability for bioprocessing to value-added products. The IBRL was designed to fill this gap in the channel from innovative research to market application and commercial products. This free webinar is hosted by the NCRCRD and presented by Dr. Hans Blaschek and Dr. Vijay Singh.
About The Presenters:
• Dr. Hans Blaschek is the director for the Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory (IBRL), University of Illinois where he is responsible for leading planning efforts for the IBRL.
• Dr. Vijay Singh is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Associate Director of Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory.
