Title: Flipped Learning in Mathematics

Additional Public Info:
In recent years, the flipped learning model has become quite popular and numerous studies in many subject areas have demonstrated the success of flipped learning. In this model students are asked to either read texts or view videos that contain typical lecture content before attending class. Class time is then spent working on problems that require students to assimilate the knowledge gained prior to class. In this talk we will discuss the flipped classroom model and its benefits and disadvantages. Additionally, we will consider the practicalities of implementation of such a model and first-hand advice and lessons learned in flipping a mathematics classroom.

Refreshments will be served 3:30-4:00 in 348 Avery. The talk is free and open to the public.
