Title: Diffuse-interface models for two-phase incompressible fluid flows with moving contact lines
Additional Public Info:
I wish to discuss recent developments in the study of incompressible binary fluid flows in a two or three-dimensional bounded domain. In addition to giving some historical accounts of the various approaches used in the last century, we shall emphasize the role of boundary conditions in some of the (most) recent approaches. The talk will be mainly devoted to a system of two evolution equations, namely, the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a convective Cahn-Hilliard equation. The novelty is that the system is endowed with boundary conditions which account for moving contact lines for interfaces at the solid boundary, a very important effect which was ignored previously by other studies.
Refreshments will be served 3:30-4:00 in 348 Avery. The talk is free and open to the public.
