Active learning methods have been demonstrated to be very successful in a variety of courses (Freeman, et al., 2013). However, implementing active learning is difficult and managing an active classroom is a skill that very few of us have been trained to perform. Here at Nebraska, we have successfully implemented active learning in all of our pre-calculus courses and graduate students are managing these classrooms with a great deal of success. This talk will discuss the methods, challenges, and results of the reform efforts so far.
