The Center for Great Plains Studies will host Anthony Schutz (UNL Law) and Peter Longo (UNK Political Science) on Wednesday, March 16 at 3:30 p.m. to give a talk titled “The Nebraska Constitution.”

The Nebraska Constitution has been the social contract for Nebraskans since 1875, but it has been amended hundreds of times to match an ever-evolving society. Nebraskans have recently considered changing their constitution concerning same-sex marriage, affirmative action, water rights, and right to farm.

This discussion will examine the complex relationship between constitutional change and its impact on public policy. These changes reflect the demands of citizenry to raise and even resolve new issues. The Nebraska Constitution is truly a living document.
