 nes the background of the Republican River compact, the Final Stipulation
  Settlement of 2002, and more recent compliance issues for the state of N
 ebraska.  The main crux of the paper evaluates L.B. 701, passed by the Ne
 braska Unicameral last year to address these concerns in the Republican B
 asin, by looking at the constitutional concerns with the provisions withi
 n the bill as well as the implications of its provisions and potential al
 ternative ways to ensure Compact compliance.\n\n\n\nMs. Patent is a recip
 ient of Water Resources Research Initiative assistantship funding.  She h
 as researched and written her paper as part of her assistantship responsi
 bilities.
