Planning has begun for the CCA training event scheduled for March 4. The general program consists of computer tools for manure management and research and regulatory updates. One of the tools is the Manure Spreading Expenses Tool. The training on the new tool, developed by Galen Erickson and others, determines the cost of spreading manure. This is a comprehensive program that calculates total nutrients produced, losses in storage and handling, includes specific distances to fields, and equipment used to apply manure. Field losses are also included. Many specifics can be changed or defaults used.
