Our annual UNL campus holiday closedown is scheduled from 12/24/2011 to 1/3/2012. Please remind all occupants to observe these procedures:

· Turn off all lights, fans, appliances, computers, printers, monitors, copiers, etc.
· Make sure windows and doors are locked.
· Close window blinds or drapes.
· If you have a manual thermostat, set it to 65 or less.
· Turn off lab equipment and close fume hood sashes.

In order to conserve as much energy as possible during the closedown, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in non-research and non-exempted buildings will be set to operate in a “hibernation” mode. Room space temperatures will be allowed to float between 50 and 90 Deg F.

This energy conservation strategy is aligned with the campus Building Energy Use Policy which can be viewed here: http://bf.unl.edu/policies/fmp/BuildingEnergyUse.shtml

Buildings will be impacted starting the evening of the Friday, Dec 23rd. HVAC systems will be brought out of “hibernation” on Monday, January 2nd in order to ensure room temperatures have warmed sufficiently before the campus community resumes regular operations on January 3rd.

Buildings affected will be 501, Ag Communication, Ag Hall, Alexander, Anderson Hall (except KRNU), Bioscience Greenhouse (headhouse), Barkley Center, Business Services (except printshop), Burnett, CBA, Facilities, Hardin Hall (except labs), Henzlik Hall, Keim Hall (except labs), Law, Mable Lee, Morrill Hall (auditorium), Nebraska Hall (office areas and library), Oldfather Hall, Othmer Hall (except labs), Plant Sciences (except labs), Richards Hall, Ross-Van Brunt, Seaton Hall, Scott Link, Teachers College, Temple, Woods, Welpton and Whittier (including childcare center).

All buildings which are currently exempted from overnight setbacks and shutdowns will be operated normally over the closedown.

Please notify the Facilities Service Desk at 472-1550 if:

· You are aware of any scheduled events that conflict with this shutdown.
· You are aware of any situations where reduced or elevated room temperatures will cause damage to the University.
· You have any questions or suggestions.

Thank you for your cooperation.
