TEDxLincoln and the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences will be hosting a viewing site for TEDxScottBase, the first TEDx presented from Antarctica. The event will be in Bessey Hall room 117 on University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus at 2:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

A TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community.

Professor David Harwood will host the event, fielding questions and offering stories and perspectives.

The department has been involved in research on the Antarctic continent for many years, recently through the ANDRILL (Antarctic Geological Drilling) Project and the Whillans Ice Stream Subglacial Access Research Drilling, or WISSARD, project funded by the National Science Foundation. These projects reflect an interdisciplinary effort of scientists from around the world.
