Paul Macklin (Indiana University) will present “New Open Source Tools for Computational Modeling of Cancer and Multicellular Systems.” Hosted by Adam Larios.

Critical biological and clinical problems involve dynamically interwoven chemical, physical, and biological processes. Cell behavior varies with biochemical and mechanical cues in the microenvironment. Cells communicate by chemical and mechanical signals, and they actively remodel tissues. Heterogeneity in cells and tissues further complicate the picture, leading to unexpected emergent systems-level behaviors. Thus, understanding and controlling biology requires a systems approach.

Refreshments will be served in 348 Avery, 3:30-4:00. The talk is free and open to the public.
